Ice and Water Shield

Ice and water shield is a tar backed underlayment that provides a complete water tight seal before the shingles even get installed. On low sloped roofs it is mandatory, but is a good idea for all roofs, to extend there service life. Ask about Ice and Water shield when we come to quote your job!

Gable and Eve Drip Edge

Have you ever had water dripping behind your gutter? Chances are there was no drip edge installed at the time. Drip edge is another redundant insurance policy to make sure water is kicked away from your fascia and into your gutter.

Ridge Venting

A well vented attic can keep your home 5-10 degrees cooler in the summer. Even with an adequate number of standard vents installed in your home, the convection in your attic may mean only one or two of those vents is actually doing any work.

With ridge venting the entire peak(s) of your home is a vent and will make any convection in your attic irrelevant as hot air can escape anywhere it pleases at the peak.

Some helpfull information about siding

Our Prep Work

Even though we are almost always the lowest quote, we are also the longest turn around time compared to other companies. That is partly because of our obsessive prep work:

  • All windows, doors, vents, etc. get multiple layers of redundant protection before any siding even goes on your home.

  • We install perimeter drip edge around the base of your home, this helps kick water away from your foundation and keep pests out.

  • All tar based building paper is stripped from your home and replaced with a breathable, fire resistant building wrap. Keeping your home free of moisture.

  • We offer HALO Exterra insulation to act as a heat break, making your home more efficient to heat/cool.

Accents

If you want your home to really stand out from all the rest, consider adding accents. We offer many different products that compliment each other, and when paired together can make your house pop. Many of our customers choose to add accents on their gables (roof peaks) and on feature walls.

To learn more about accents and to get some inspiration for your home we strongly suggest going to:

We Recommend:

Why Hardie?

We usually see it two ways. Either people haven’t really heard of Hardie board siding (or put much thought into siding at all for that matter), or they have heard of it and its benefits but seem to think that its wayyy more expensive than vinyl.

  • -Impressively fire resistant (no seriously, ask us how we know)

-Bug & Rot resistant (and when James Hardie says resistant they are using that word very humbly)

-Fade & Impact resistant. (compared to vinyl this stuff is bullet proof)

-Many insurance providers issue a discount or rebate when switching to Hardie, as it buys you more time to evacuate in the event of a fire.

  • If its just the raw material, then yes you would be right.

But chances are, you’re on our website because you don’t have the time and/or ability to side your house yourself. In that case its not much cheaper at all.

Roughly three quarters of your quote is just the staggering amount of man hours it takes to side a house. Doing things right just takes time. So even if you are saving 20% on material by going with vinyl, you're only saving 20% on one quarter of your quote. When the dust all settles we find that the difference is usually only around $1000 on an average $35,000 job.

And at that point. Do yourself a favor and just go with Hardie. You literally will never need to worry about siding again in your lifetime.

Frequently asked questions

  • Great question, although we do install Hardie trim when asked to, we primarily use SmartSide trim for its superior durability and aesthetic look. Unlike the Hardie siding, Hardie trim is more susceptible to cracking than SmartSide trim.

  • All of our Hardie siding comes pre-painted. Smart-Side trim comes pre-painted in white or black. So if you choose a custom color for your trim it will need to be painted on site.

  • The only possible downside to Hardie is the fact its largely made of cement. Cement tends to hold heat and transfer that heat (or lack of heat in winter) into your walls. A thermal break such as foam is a great way to combat this from happening. It is worth noting that vinyl and wood also transfer heat but to a lesser degree.

  • Yes, to ensure the best fitting, best looking trim around your windows/doors, they should be installed first. Window and Door companies often include the exterior and interior trim as part of their installation service. Exterior trim is not necessary as your quote with Alliance includes exterior trim.

Yes we do install windows and doors once in a while if it is impeding the start of a siding job. But hiring us for windows and doors is less economical than a company that specializes in that.

  • Unlike interior renovations, Siding is almost always very straight forward. It is very unusual to remove the old siding and see rot, major pest issues, water-damage etc.

What we do see very frequently however, is people being unaware of just how dated there gutters/fascia/soffits are going to look once the new siding is installed. Its a good idea to get a quote for these item even if you don’t think they need replacing. If a quote is in place we can get started right away if you change your mind and won’t need to come back later.

Roofline Services

Evestroughs/Gutters

Evestroughs (sometimes called gutters) collects the rainfall that hits your roof, and diverts it safely away from your foundation.

We install 5” K style Continuous evestroughs. We stock white, black and brown material. Custom colors are possible but will incur additional cost and lead-time.

Fascia

Fascia is the decorative board that protects the eve and gable (edge) framing of your roof. We use LP SmartSide trim as we have found it is the longest lasting, best looking wood option. We can also install metal fascia, but the SmartSide trim does look better in our opinion.

Soffits

Soffits are the perforated panels that sit under the eves and gables of your roof. They serve as fresh air intakes for your attic, and play a BIG role in keeping your house cool in the summer.

We install Royal Alluminum Soffits in white, black, brown. Custom colors are also available for additonal cost and lead-time.

Gable Ornaments

Gable Ornaments are pieces of trim that mimic the look of post and beam style houses. They can give your house a modern day equivalent look. Typically these are installed on fairly steep Gables (roof peaks).
